About Spruce Carpets

New Shop at Shawlands Arcade, Kilmarnock Road

History

Spruce Carpets started trading in March 2005 from a small industrial unit in Govan, Glasgow. The company's main aim is to provide affordable flooring for low income households through the recycling of domestic carpets. In doing this we also provide employment opportunities to individuals that have found themselves excluded from the job market by giving them work experience and is some cases help them access training that will make them more employable in the future.

In 2006 Spruce moved to a larger industrial unit in the same area that has a retail space. The success of the company means that we have developed close relationships with manufacturers and wholesalers in the carpet industry to satisfy the growing demand for our services. This fits well with our objective, as it allowed us to divert end of line carpets and roll ends that the carpet industry would have sent to land fill.

For the last three years we have developed the business to include carpet tiles. Following a similar business model we work with carpet tile manufacturers to re-use carpet tiles that would otherwise have ended up in land fill before the end of their useful life.

In addition to all of the above we began to manufacture rugs at the end of 2009  which we sell through our retail outlets and eBay.

Spruce Carpets now has two stores in Glasgow and sells refurbished carpet tiles and rugs UK wide on ebay.
