We provide uplift services – let us do the hard work for you

Spruce Carpets is Scotland’s only Revolve Accredited floor covering Re-Use Social Enterprise.

All trading surpluses are retained within our charitable enterprise and used to support our core charitable aims and objectives:

  • to increase the diversion rate of textile floor coverings from landfill
  • to provide work experience and volunteering opportunities to economically inactive individuals from a range of disadvantaged backgrounds to support their journey through learning to the world of work

We will uplift, remove and re-use carpet tiles from business premises. And to support your company’s Corporate Social Responsibility, we can certify quantities of “waste” material diverted from landfill. Via reclaiming, refurbishing and re-using of carpet tiles by commercial on-selling, in addition to reducing the waste of viable material, our re-use strategies contribute to reducing aggregate energy consumption. Fewer of the world’s resources are used in the manufacture of floor coverings as we provide a re-use service.

Spruce Commercial Case Studies

Customer – GHI Contracts
Project – Uplift carpet tiles 9 George Square, Glasgow

Spruce Carpets worked with GHI Contracts to uplift 2,000 sq. metres of carpet tiles – 62% were of re-use standard and 38% were re-cycled.

Following a pre-start comprehensive on-site survey, the tiles were lifted, palletised and shrink-wrapped to provide load stability and protection during transit. After processing, they were reused in a variety of local businesses in Scotland including offices, warehouses and shops, as well as being utilised by householders from our retail outlet.

“GHI Contracts strive to minimise the environmental impact of all our projects. Using a Social Enterprise company like Spruce ensures we support their core values as well as benefiting from a first class service.  A large part of the cost was offset by the saving in landfill avoidance”

Barclay Gunn, Quantity Surveyor, GHI Contracts.

Customer – Whiteinch & Scotstoun Housing Association
Project – Move Furniture into storage, Uplift carpet, Screed floor, Lay carpet tiles, Replace furniture.

Background

Whiteinch & Scotstoun HA were planning painting and carpet replacement for their 3 storey Office Block in Northinch Court, Glasgow.  They needed all the furniture moved out of the building into storage to allow for painting, existing flooring uplifted, floor screeded, new flooring fitted and all furniture replaced over the holiday weekend.

Spruce Carpets Services

Spruce Carpets supplied storage crates on Monday for staff to empty the cupboards etc.  They then sent in a team on Friday, while all the staff were on holiday, to remove all the furniture and lift the existing flooring.  The painters went in on the Saturday and the new flooring was laid on Sunday.  The Spruce Team went back in on the Holiday Monday and replaced all the furniture leaving the building ready for all staff returning to work on Tuesday.  Spruce uplifted all the empty crates on Friday.

“From start to finish Spruce Carpets have been highly responsive to our needs, proving to be very flexible in meeting any additional requests we made as our refurbishment project developed. Another key benefit was that they provided a ‘one-stop shop’ service which simplified the coordination of the project. We are very satisfied with overall quality of the completed job which was finished well within the agreed timescale.

Engaging a social enterprise such as Spruce Carpets gave us both a highly professional standard of service and enabled Whiteinch & Scotstoun Housing Association to invest in the social and economic outcomes of the work they undertake in supporting volunteers and work placements to gain valuable work experience to help them progress towards future sustainable employment.

We would be happy to recommend Spruce Carpets to others.”

Mark Quigley, Project Manager, Whiteinch & Scotstoun H.A.
